Thousands upon thousands of seniors around the world will soon be emerging from the perpetuality of high school, enjoying their final summer as honest adolescents, and finally stumbling into four years of homesickness, dorm room drama, missed biology lectures, and ramen noodles. Of course, no college experience is complete without a brand-new laptop. It's almost like a rite-of-passage these days, for a new college freshman to roll into their dorm room with some hand-me-down furniture, faded jeans, that sickly plant, some Easy Mac, and a fresh laptop that will endure hours upon hours of abuse over the following years.
Microsoft wants to make that college computer purchase just a bit more enticing for the kids out there; students purchasing a Windows 7 PC that costs more than $699 will receive an Xbox 360 4GB console free of charge. Microsoft claims that there are no string attached, and the absence of anything fishy in the smallprint suggests their honesty. So, if you were already planning on grabbing a new computer for school this summer, hey, you might as well take home a new video game console while you're at it. The deal applies to both laptops and desktops, so you can bring that bulky tower to school with you if you're, you know, weird.
The promotion will run from May 23rd, and while it officially ends on September 9th, the actual end-date will very between retailers.
